Abstract
1390163 Scrubbing process FUJI KASUI ENG CO Ltd and SUMITOMO METAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 28 March 1973 [25 July 1972] 14820/73 Heading B1R [Also in Division C1] A process for removing a specific gas component and/or fine dust from a gas comprises passing the gas upwardly through a plate tower comprising at least one perforated or grid plate having neither downcomer nor weir and having a free space ratio (defined) of 0.25-0.60 at a superficial gas velocity (defined) within the undulation region (defined) while passing absorbant liquid upwardly under a liquid/gas ratio of 0.5 or more. The examples describe the scrubbing of flue gas with water, and gases containing SO 2 , NO x and H 2 S with solutions of Na 2 CO 3 , NaClO 2 and NaOH respectively.
