1389406 Powdered alkali metal boroglucoheptonate CRODA INTERNATIONAL Ltd 14 June 1972 [20 July 1971] 33863/71 Heading C2B An alkali metal boroglucoheptonate sequestering agent in powder form is prepared from an aqueous solution of the boroglucoheptonate (especially the sodium compound), by adjusting the pH of the solution to 5À0-8À5, usually by addition of sulphuric acid, and then drying the solution to give a stable free-flowing powder. The boroglucoheptonate solution may be obtained by reacting an alkali metal cyanide and glucose and adding a boron compound to the resulting solution. The intermediate solution may be a mixture of sodium α- and #-glucoheptonate, the former component being removed if desired prior to addition of the boron compound. Drying may be effected by evaporation or roller or spray drying.
