Abstract

1389020 Valves; antiskid systems GIRLING Ltd 27 Oct 1972 [12 Nov 1971] 52568/71 Headings F2V and F2F A pressure-responsive control valve assembly, which is usable in an hydraulic braking system, has a ball valve member 33 operative to control flow between an inlet 35 and either one of two outlets 36 and 38. The valve member is urged, by the net force of opposed springs 13, 28, to engage a seating 16 thereby closing off outlet 36. Should the pressure of the flow then passing to outlet 38 rise above a predetermined value, then such pressure is operative to move actuator piston 26 against the force of spring 28 acting thereon until valve member 33 is caused, by spring 13, to engage seating 32 thereby to close outlet 38. A fall in pressure within the last mentioned outlet results in the system returning to the first state wherein outlet 36 is closed. When used in braking system, high pressure fluid is supplied to the wheel brake directly from a source connected to inlet 35 whilst outlet feeds an anti-skid system.
