1388668 Casings ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 13 Oct 1972 [15 Oct 1971] 47233/72 Heading B8P [Also in Division H1] An accumulator casing comprises at least two cell compartments 11, 12 Fig. 3, of thermoplastics material wherein an outer wall 113 of a first compartment abuts an outer wall 121 of a second compartment, which outer walls are mechanically joined by a dovetailed joint including a groove 14 in one wall and corresponding strip 15 in the other, and a common welded joint is provided across the edge of the walls 113, 121 which are adapted to receive a lid or cover. Preferably each relevant outer wall i.e. 113, 121, has at least one groove 14 and one strip 15. The common welded joint may be formed by an injection welded seam, Fig. 4 (not shown), which builds up the abutting walls until they are flush with the tops of the other walls. In another embodiment, Fig. 6, a cover 60 is injection welded on to cell compartments 30, 40 at the same time as weld seal 50 is formed across the edge of abutting walls 33, 41. The top regions 312, 412 of these walls are of reduced thickness and are chamfered at 313, 413 to form a groove. They are received in a groove 61 formed under the cover 60 and apertures 63 extend through cover 60 for injecting thermoplastics to form the seal. In this embodiment the dovetail grooves and strips do not extend the entire height of the walls.
