Abstract

1388546 Catadioptric lens RANK ORGANISATION Ltd 26 May 1972 [9 June 1971] 19792/71 Heading G2J An optical system comprises a catadioptric objective and an independent second optical image-forming means located on the axis of the catadioptric objective within a central zone defined by the internal diameter of the secondary mirror and for passing light to the same imagereceiving area. The catadioptric objective has at least one lens component R 1 R 2 and R 3 R 4 before the primary mirror R 5 (Fig. 3). Component R 3 R 4 carries the secondary mirror R 6 on its rear surface. The second optical system Fig. 4 may be an inverse telephoto objective of which the above two lens components respectively form the front R 1 R 2 and rear R 18 , R 19 elements of said inverse telephoto objective. The second optical system may alternatively be a graticule injection system. The catadioptric objective used with such injection system may be designed for use with infrared radiation. Optical data are given for four catadioptric objectives and for three inverse telephoto objectives fitted therewith. The catadioptric objective may operate independently of the other image-forming means. (For Figures see next page)
