Abstract

1387355 Elastomeric polymers BRIDGESTONE TIRE KK 22 Nov 1972 [22 Nov 1971] 54006/72 Headings C3B C3P and C3R Elastomeric polymers are prepared by reacting an epoxy resin with a polymer containing acid anhydride groups of general formula wherein R 1 is a trivalent group containing at least 2 carbon atoms, R<SP>2</SP> is the residue of a hydroxyl functional polymer. I is prepared by reacting a polymer having a number average M.W. 400-10,000 and containing at least 2 terminal or pendant OH groups with a tricarboxylic acid monohalide with at least one compound containing a plurality of amino and/or carboxylic acid hydrazide groups. The reaction may be carried out together with at least one aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic compound of M.W. <400 which contains at least one acid anhydride group. I may be prepared by reacting trimellitic anhydride monohalide with polybutadiene- or polyisoprene polyol, polyethylenepolypropylene or polytetramethylene glycol and a compound selected from 3,3<SP>1</SP>-dichloro-4,4<SP>1</SP>- diaminodiphenylmethane, 4,4<SP>1</SP> - diaminodiphenyl ether, or the dihydrazides of adipic, sebacic, isophthalic or piperazine-N,N<SP>1</SP>-diacetic acid dihydrazide. The epoxy resin may be a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A or a diglycidyl ester of phthalic acid. Uses.-Mouldings, coatings, electrical insulation.
