Abstract

1387202 Flue damper FORNEY INTERNATIONAL Inc 24 Feb 1972 [24 Feb 1971] 8666/72 Heading F4B [Also in Division F2] In a damper unit, of the type having at least one damper blade pivoted in a frame, the or each blade 20 is mounted on a pair of shafts 18 so as to allow for expansion of the damper blade axially relatively to the shafts, and a pair of sealing frames mounted on the opposite vertical sides of the frame are arranged to provide channels 30 co-operating with floating side rails 42 one at each end of the damper blade to close gaps between the damper blade and the frame due to thermal expansion. Each shaft 18 is journalled in a bearing 16 with a stuffing box 64, and is connected to the damper blade 20 by a pin 96 secured to the blade and passing through a slot 44 in the shaft. Angle irons 58 secured to the inner face of the frame side members form channel 30 to co-operate with the in turned flanges 54 of a sealing bar 42 mounted to move on the shaft with the damper 20.
