Abstract

1,247,977. Sintering apparatus. SIMONCARVES Ltd. 7 Sept., 1970 [20 Oct., 1969], No. 51359/69. Heading F4B. Wear strips 20 and 21, respectively attached to the sides of the travelling pallets and the lower windboxes of a sintering machine, seal the gaps between them. As shown the upper strips 20 are urged against the lower strips 21 by leaf springs 19 mounted in channels 18 in lower side flange portions 15 of the pallets, which springs also gas tightly connect the upper wear strips 20 to the pallets. Alternatively (Fig. 4, not shown) leaf springs attached to the windboxes may urge the lower wear strips against the upper wear strips. Like arrangements (40, Fig. 2, not shown) may seal the gaps between the pallets and an upper hood.
