Abstract

1387141 Fastener driving tools WILLIAM KENYON & SONS Ltd 13 Jan 1972 1601/72 Heading B4C [Also in Division E1] A beam, column or wall is clad with fireproof boards 10 by means of metal strips 22, pairs of which are inserted into the board inclined to each other and to the plane of the board. An apparatus comprising a ram 40 and a slider 42 is used to insert the prebent strips 22 into the board at the required position. The apparatus when lifted off vertically leaves a normally projecting portion of the strip. Adhesive is coated on the board between the pairs of projecting strips and the board pressed against the flange 12 of an I-beam, the strips being bent over the flange edges. Further boards are then adhered to the overlapping portions 18 of the board and to pallets placed in the side channels of the beam. The boards may be of exfoliated vermiculite and sodium silicate.
