Abstract

1386682 Coating apparatus WINDMOLLER & HOLSCHER 24 Aug 1972 [22 Sept 1971] 39498/72 Heading B2L Apparatus for applying thermoplastic adhesive to sheets comprises a coating roller 1 which dips into a heated container 3 and a backing segment 15 which has suction means to retain a sheet b and move it at the same peripheral speed as the roller 1 before applying it to a workpiece W which may be a bag. As shown knives 18, 19 cut suitable lengths of sheets from a web B which is fed by rollers 21. Arm 10 is fixed to shaft 8 and arm 9 is adjustable so that different sizes of segments may be used. Slots 16 in the front and trailing edges of the segments co-operate with slots 13, 12 and suction is applied through an angle and by means of a slide valve (not shown). In an alternative construction sheets may be removed from a magazine without cutting.
