Abstract
1386431 Knitting machines ELITEX-ZAVODY TEXTILNIHO STROJIRENSTVI GENERALNI REDITELSTVI 20 April 1972 [30 April 1971] 18485/72 Heading D1C [Also in Division H3] A circuit for pulsing an electro-magnet in a circular knitting machine comprises means for connecting the coil of the magnet in a resonant circuit for rapidly building up current in the coil, means for providing a holding current and means for rapidly switching off the current. When transistor 6 is made conductive a capacitor 18 discharges resonantly through the winding 5 of the electromagnet to effect rapid operation. The voltage across the capacitor decreases but is held when it falls below a voltage ub 2 whereafter a holding current is supplied through a variable resistor 24 and a diode 23. Turning off transistor 6 allows the energy in the coil to dissipate rapidly through a resonant-circuit completed by diode 11, capacitor 31 and capacitor 18. Thyristor 2 is now fired to resonontly recharge the capacitor 17 through inductor 18. A diode 28 allows the inductor to discharge when the thyristor extinguishes and a resistor 16 allows capacitor 20 its charge on first switching the circuit on.
