Abstract

1385725 Pirn holder SCHWEITER ENG WORKS Ltd 1 June 1972 [4 June 1971] 25679/ 72 Heading D1J [Also in Division F2] A pirn tube holder comprises a spindle, segments movable axially and radially of the spindle to engage a pirn tube interior, and means preventing relative movement of the segments in rotation about and axially of the spindle. As shown, Fig. 2, the holder comprises spindle 1 supporting three segments 11. Sleeve 2, when slid along the spindle, moves the segments axially via flange 16 and pins 18, and frusto-conical surfaces on spindle-mounted members 7, 15 co-act with similarly shaped segment and surfaces to move the segments radially. Flange 16 received in segment slots 17 prevents axial movement of the segments and pins 18 slidably received in segment bores prevent rotation of the segments. Pins 3 passing through slots in sleeve 2 secure member 7 to the spindle. Flanges 14, 15 retain the segments on the spindle. Springs 5, 9 bias the segments outwardly.
