Abstract

1,181,700. Securing bobbins on shafts. MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER A.G. 13 Dec., 1967 [13 Dec., 1966], No. 56546/67. Heading F2U. [Also in Division D1] An expandible mandrel for mounting a bobbin sleeve 17 comprises a plurality of coaxial tubes 6, 7, 10 having sloped end surfaces in facing relation; a pair of elastic deformable O- rings (15, 16) in contact with the sloped surfaces; and means for moving at least one of the tubes relative to the remainder whereby the rings roll up the slopes into deformable frictional engagement with the bobbin sleeve 17. Movement of the tubes 6, 7, 10 away from each other causes the rings to roll down the slopes and out of frictional engagement with the bobbin sleeve 17. The 0-rings can be made of rubber. The tubes 6, 7, 10 may be moved together by spring 4<SP>11</SP> and further apart by forcing fluid through bore 3.
