Abstract

1385706 Wet screening machine I G REAY 5 May 1972 [5 May 1971] 13133/71 Headings B1D and B2H Slurry containing solid particles of various sizes is filtered or graded in apparatus which comprises a vessel divided by a horizontal mesh screen 2 on to whose underside are directed air jets from a manifold 7 to agitate the slurry and prevent the screen clogging. Liquid and possibly fines are drawn off through flexible tube 8, which enables the discharge height to be varied and which may be attached to suction pump 10. The top of the vessel may be closed so that slurry can be delivered under pressure, or the air from manifold 7 may supply such pressure 'by accumulating in the top of the vessel. Air may be supplied to manifold 7 from a reservoir through a solenoid-operated valve which is opened by signals from a timer or from a pressure switch monitoring the pressure in the reservoir and/or the pressure drop across the screen 2.
