Abstract

1384543 Endless conveyers DOWTY MINING EQUIPMENT Ltd 1 March 1972 [1 March 1971] 5652/71 Heading B8A Apparatus for connecting an advancing jack 27 to a mine face conveyer 11 comprises a slide 12 fixedly secured to the conveyer 11 and formed as a box open at its lower end, a slide member 15 of channel cross-section and having a ground engaging foot 16 at its lower end and an hydraulic jack 18 coupled between the slide 12 and the slide member to effect relative movement therebetween. A lug 26 in combination with the foot 16 provides a mounting point for the jack 27, which point is maintained close to the ground regardless of the relative attitudes of the slide and slide member whereby to reduce the possibility of the conveyer 11 being tipped over when the jack 27 is actuated to advance the conveyer. The jack 18 in conjunction with the slide may be utilized to lift the conveyer to adjust the cutting plane of a face cutter (not shown).
