Abstract

1384512 Easy-open containers STOLLE .CORP 7 March 1973 [6 April 1972] 10973/73 Heading B8D The scoreline-defined tear-out panel of a can end 10 having a rivet 12 securing a pull-tab (not shown) to the panel, is formed with a pair of parallel or inclined beads 13 disposed symmetrically on opposite sides of the rivet about a diameter 15 of the can end passing through the rivet. The beads are said to preclude rivet failure on opening the can end. The beads, as shown, are parallel and disposed as close as possible to the rivet with their inner ends extending to a rivet tangent 16 drawn normal to said diameter. In modification, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), the spacing between the beads is increased to ¢ in., and the beads extend inwardly beyond the rivet tangent. In further modifications, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown), convergent and divergent pairs of beads described.
