1384395 Moulding reinforcement spacers SOGEDIC SA SOC DE GESTION D'INTERETS INDUSTRIELS ET COMMERCIAUX 21 Dec 1971 [21 Dec 1970 23 April 1971 6 Aug 1971] 59520/71 Heading B5A [Also in Division El] A plastics reinforcement spacer has an elongate form and comprises a multiplicity of identical spacer sections following one another in series along its length in a repeated pattern and being generally of U or V-shape. Each section has its U or V limbs lying in a plane or planes generally transverse to the direction of length of the spacer. The sections may be formed from bent rods 72 Fig. 25, from I or T-section extruded or injection moulded elements 2, Fig. 2, or from separate straight rods 85, Fig. 23, merely held adjacent to each other in V-shape. A further alternative embodiment may comprise a corrugated integral strip 91, Fig. 27, either the opposite apices or the opposite side edges may be used to space a reinforcement mat 94 from wall or floor shuttering. An apparatus for forming the spacer comprises two sets of extruders adjacent to each other. One set forming elongate rods and the other set above and at right angles to the first forming cross pieces which cross pieces are transferred from the extruder on a stepwise rotating body and after parting off a cross piece length are deposited on the elongate rods. Further means then press the cross pieces on to the longitudinal extrusions to join them. Bends are then formed either to corrugate the longitudinal extrusions or to form the cross pieces into U or V-shapes.
