Abstract
1405198 Concrete slabs A V I ALPENLANDISCHE VEREDELUNGS - INDUSTRIE GmbH 5 June 1973 26747/73 Heading E1W [Also in Divisions B3 and Dl] In a method of making a reinforcement for concrete wherein pieces of reinforcement of the required length are cut from a rolled-up grid of reinforcement having longitudinal high tensile steel rods connected by transverse elements of lower tensile strength, the grid being rolled up in its longitudinal direction with the longitudinal rods permanently deformed and having a length of at least fifty metres, the cut pieces are straightened and laid in position within shuttering side by side with the longitudinal rods parallel, adjacent edge rods of adjacent pieces of reinforcement having the same spacing as between adjacent rods within each piece. Cut lengths of grid may also be laid on top of each other and at right angles to one another. The ends of the transverse elements are flush with the outermost rods of the reinforcement grid and they may be of mild steel or synthetic plastics. The high tensile steel rods are preferably of cold worked or self-hardening steel. They are welded to the transverse elements and are preferably profiled for keying with the concrete.
