Abstract

1383468 Road traffic signals on vehicles NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd and ICHIKOH INDUSTRIES Ltd 30 May 1973 25787/73 Heading G4Q A motor vehicle signalling and lighting system comprises a dual filament lamp 1 including a high light intensity filament 2 connected through a warning switch 7 to a power source Ba, and a low light intensity filament 3 connected through a variable resistor R1 and a vehicle lamp switch 8 to the power source, the other ends of the filaments being connected with each other and through a dimming resistor R2 operative when the vehicle lights are on, but short-circuited at other times. The filament 2 is used when the lamp operates as a brake lamp, a turn signal lamp, or a pilot lamp, and the filament 3 is used for a head, tail, or parking lamp. On closing switch 8, relay RY operates to open contact 11 and so introduce resistor R2 into the circuit, dimming filament 2.
