Abstract

1383232 Slide valves for metallurgical ladles DIDIER WERKE AG 15 Feb 1972 [15 Feb 1971 14 Sept 1971] 7046/72 Heading F4B The bottom plate 10 and/or the slide plate 11 of a sliding gate nozzle in a casting ladle are made of fused or sintered magnesia. The latter may have the following composition 90À0-97À0% MgO; 1À0-3À0% CaO; 0À5-1À5% SiO 2 ; 0À5-3À0% Fe 2 O 3 ; less than 0À5% Al 2 O 3 ; less than 0À05% B 2 O 3 ; -the lime/silica ratio being about 2. The grain size should not exceed 3 mm. with a proportion of 25-35% fine grains smaller than 0-1 mm. The magnesia may be impregnated with a carbon containing material or may be mixed with up to 10% chromium oxide.
