1381919 Bromo-carboxylic acids and alkyl bromides CHEMISCHE FABRIK KALK GmbH 17 July 1972 [16 Oct 1971] 33402/72 Heading C2C A method for simultaneously preparing an aliphatic bromo-carboxylic acid and an alkyl bromide comprises reacting an alkyl ester of the corresponding aliphatic chloro-carboxylic acid with hydrogen bromide in a molar ratio of from 1 : 3À6 to 1 : 4À0 at a temperature of from 30 to 120‹ C. in the presence of water, and distilling off hydrogen chloride, water and alkyl bromide, the bromo-carboxylic acid being separated from the reaction mixture and the alkyl bromide from the distillate.
