Abstract

1347440 Glycidyl esters of hexahydrophthalic acid SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 28 Dec 1972 [30 Dec 1971 9 Nov 1972] 59789/72 Heading C2C A process for the catalytic preparation of glycidyl esters of hexahydrophthalic acid comprises the addition of an aqueous solution of a salt of hexahydrophthalic acid, which solution contains at least 40% by weight and at most 85% by weight of this salt in the dissolved state, to a larger than stoichiometric amount of boiling epihalohydrin in the presence of a catalyst, water and epihalohydrin being distilled off together and distilled water being separated off after condensation and the glycidyl ester being isolated. Examples are furnished, tetramethylammonium chloride being employed as catalyst.
