Abstract

1381894 Multiplex radio signalling THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 15 Aug 1973 [24 Aug 1972] 39516/72 Heading H4L In an intercarrier sound television receiver, means controlled by the A.G.C. signal in the receiver increase the amplification of the sound signal relative to that of the vision signal under weak signal conditions as compared with its amplification under normal signal conditions. In one arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown) a sound carrier trap common to both the sound and vision circuits is determined by means of a capacitor connected across the sound trap by a transistor which is switched on when the A.G.C. falls below a predetermined level. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 6 (not shown) a diode becomes conductive when the A.G.C. potential falls and damps the timed circuit forming the sound carrier trap.
