Abstract

1381851 Feeding sheets; strippers GESTETNER Ltd 18 Jan 1973 [24 Jan 1972] 3265/72 Heading B8R [Also in Division B6] When a sheet is to be separated from the bottom of a pile resting on a fixed tray 30 and pressed down by a weight on its rear end and a pivoted weight resting on its front end, a control mechanism, Fig. 1 (not shown), moves a plate 36 to the right, thereby rotating a friction separator roller 31 clockwise to move the bottom sheet against a trip bar 33, causing the sheet to buckle downwards. A lever 37 carried on the plate 36 then rotates the trip bar counterclockwise to release the leading edge of the sheet, while a support plate 32 swings upwards to flatten the buckle and assist forward movement of the sheet, which is directed by a guide 82 to feed rollers 42, 43, the latter being rotated by the control mechanism when a sheet is to be fed. When a further sheet is to be separated, the plate 36 is first moved to the left, the wheel 31 being moved clear of the pile or not rotating because of a freewheel arrangement, prior to its next operative rightward stroke.
