Abstract

1381632 Pelletizing apparatus CITIES SERVICE CO 12 May 1972 [25 June 1971 (2)] 22386/72 Heading B5A A pelletizer has at least two rotating shafts 3a, 3b carrying radial pins 6a, 6b which interdigitate in a central zone 1b, the housing wall 2 being curved to approximate to the tips of the pins in the regions 1a where they do not interdigitate. The shafts may be driven in the same direction or in opposite directions and at the same or different speeds. A hinged flap may be let into the wall 2 to facilitate cleaning (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown). Powder is introduced through inlet 10 and granules are discharged through outlet 11, water or other pelletizing liquid either being mixed with the powder before its introduction or introduced through an inlet 12. Appropriate dimensions and speeds are given for an apparatus for pelletizing carbon black, the weight ratio of powder to water being in the range 65/35 to 35/65.
