138,120. Rooker, J. G. F. Aug. 6, 1917, [Convention date]. Feed by clamps.-A work-clamp 8 is moved for stitching letters or the like for marking fabrics by means of a cam-groove 2 of varying depth. The clamp-holder is integral with a pin 4 spring- pressed upon the cam and carried in a casing 6 swinging about a vertical pivot 9. The connexion between the pin 4 and the work-clamp may be a linkwork, the members of which can be varied to vary the size of the stitched design. The drum 1 comprises several cylindrical bundles of segmental blocks each having a portion of a camgroove cut in its surface, and desired forms of cam-groove can be obtained by suitably grouping the segmental blocks.
