Abstract

1284126 Sewing machine POLYGRAPH LEIPZIG KOMBINAT FUR POLYGRAPHISCHE MASCHINEN UND AUSRUSTUNGEN VEB 6 Aug 1969 39403/69 Heading D1G [Also in Division B6] Folded sheets are stitched with thermoplastic or impregnated textile threads by feeding folded sheets 16 along a rotating circular path or surface 1 carrying a thread 5 wound off a spool and clamped by clips 4, cutting the thread into lengths, driving the ends of the thread lengths through the sheets by means of cam-controlled needles 6 rotating with the sheets so as to form stitches, the protruding ends of the stitches being then flattened and sealed by stationary sealing means 9 disposed near the circular path. The sheets are then fed out of the circular path and folded along the line of stitches (Figs. 2 and 3 not shown). The needles 6 are arranged in pairs and move with the cylinder 1, an internal fixed cam moving the needles radially against springs 19 to insert the thread ends. A thread cutting knife 20 is provided between two thread clips 4. In a modification (Fig. 3 not shown) the controlled grippers 2 are carried on a chain (3) associated with the cylinder 1 instead of being provided on the latter.
