Abstract

1380500 Securing element G L LANA 29 Feb 1972 9413/72 Heading F2H A securing element 20 having a pointed shank 21 and a screw-threaded portion extending from the point 22 for preferably between one quarter and one third of the shank length, the crests of the thread extending radially beyond the remaining unthreaded shank portion, has a head 25 shaped to be engaged by a tool so that the screw-nail can be rotated to thereby drive it into a workpiece. The head may comprise, as in Fig. 1, radially projecting flanges 26, or, as in Fig. 3 (not shown), be formed as a preferably triangular pyramid (55) whose base surface forms the outer end of the screw-nail. The screw-thread may be formed by rolling or pressing so that the root diameter is substantially equal to the diameter of the unthreaded shank portion.
