Abstract
1379773 Sewing PFAFF INDUSTRIEMASCHINEN GmbH 28 April 1972 [3 May 1971] 19740/72 Heading D1G A work feed clamp 26 in the form of a long rail 29 is moved transversely and longitudinally by independent drives. For longitudinal movement a support 19 carrying the clamp is driven along two parallel bars 12, 13 by a motor 14. For transverse movement a piston 47 moves a supporting plate 34 which indirectly supports two rollers 40, 41 which engage a flange 29 on the work clamp. The plate 34 remains vertical, sliding along a bar 35, but in a modification a vertical bar carrying the rollers may pivot at the top and be inclined sideways by the piston. A short sideways lock seam may be sewn before sewing a long main seam, and by varying the relative speed of the drives the side seam may be sewn at an angle to the long seam. Pneumatic operation, with or without additional hydraulic operation may be used in the lateral drive.
