Abstract

1379441 Continuous casting FIVES LILLECAIL 4 Jan 1972 [8 Jan 1971] 331/72 Heading B3F The frame 22 of an upper section 12 of a roller guideway for a cast strand is supported and fixed on the frame of a lower section 10 and carries a reciprocated mould and has, fixed to it, members 24 which guide the mould. The mould is carried by a table 30 supported by two levers 32, driven mechanically or hydraulically and resting on springs 36. The levers are pivoted at 34 on the frame 22. The lower guideway section 10 rests on a fixed pivot 16 and bears on a support 18 which may be slidable to permit expansion. In a modification, the upper guidewaysection frame is releasably secured on a horizontal surface of the frame of the lower section by keys mounted on pins fixed to the lower frame. The upper section and mould may be removed as a unit, there being rapid-release connections for pipes supplying coolant to the mould and upper section.
