Abstract
1379407 Filling waffles RONDO-NEISSE SUSSWARENINDUSTRIE GmbH 29 Dec 1971 [31 Dec 1970] 60410/71 Heading A2A A filler for hollow waffle bodies is solid at normal room temperatures and is rendered fluid or pasty by being supercooled under pressure and injected horizontally through one or more nozzles into the waffle bodies. A filler composed of cocoa powder, skim milk powder, sugar, shortening and hazelnut meal becomes sufficiently fluid when supercooled to a temperature of between 13 and 15‹C at a pressure of 10 atmospheres. Filling apparatus comprises a pressure chamber 1 with a stirrer driven by a motor 6 and a connection 8 to a nozzle 4 arranged to discharge the filler transversely with respect to the direction of movement of a conveyer chain 10 driven by a gear 11 and on to which the waffle bodies are fed by a device 15. The chamber 1 which, together with the connection 8 and nozzle 4, is surrounded by a hot water jacket for control of the temperature of the filler, is supplied at 3 with the filler ingredients or with ready mixed filler. The conveyer is advanced intermittently, and a discharge valve in the nozzle is operated by a solenoid under the control of a feeler which detects the presence of waffle bodies carried by cradles on the conveyer. Several nozzles may be arranged side-by-side to fill a corresponding number of waffle bodies simultaneously, and a pair of parallel conveyers may be provided, flanked by filling nozzles. Stripping blades may be employed to remove excess filler from each end of the waffle bodies.
