Abstract

1379159 Dispensing beverages UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 15 May 1973 [25 April 1972] 19237/72 Heading A4T A machine for preparing and dispensing beverages e.g. tea, coffee or chocolate, formed by mixing a hydroscopic powder with a liquid comprises an outer casing 1, a hopper 4 for the powder, the casing having an inlet vent and an outlet vent for atmospheric air to ventilate the interior of the casing and means for extracting moisture from the air entering the casing through the inlet vent. The powder is dispensed from the hopper via a measuring valve 5 into a cup 3, water also being delivered into the latter from a tank 2. The upper end of the hopper opens into a duct 8, one end being perforated and the other engaging a sleeve 9. A perforated canister 10 containing silica gel crystals is mounted in the sleeve and air is drawn therethrough by a motorized fan 12, the air passing over a heater 11 e.g. an electric lamp. The canister can be removed for regeneration; alternatively, hot air can be blown through the canister in situ.
