Abstract

1379135 Nickel electro-plating printing screens BUCKBEE MEARS CO 16 Aug 1972 [12 Nov 1971] 38167/72 Heading C7B [Also in Division B6] A printing screen assembly comprises a frame of aluminium or magnesium or an alloy of aluminium or magnesium, the frame having a layer of zinc thereon and a layer of nickel over the zinc, and a flexible printing screen stretched across the frame, the flexible screen being rigidized by a coating of nickel. The screen may be of stainless steel. The zinc and nickel are applied by a process comprising cleaning the frame and screen by immersion in an aluminium etch solution, spray rinsing, and immersion in nitric acid, depositing the zinc on the frame from a solution of sodium hydroxide and zinc hydroxide and electro-plating the nickel in a nickel sulphanate bath having a pH of between 4 and 6.
