Abstract

1379004 Sintered alloys TOYOTA JIDOSHA KOGYO K K 5 March 1973 [6 March 1972] 10601/73 Headings C7A and C7D A sintered alloy, whose high-temperature and wear resistance properties make it suited for use in valve seats and bearings, comprises, by weight:- 3 to 20% molybdenum 0À5 to 1À5% carbon 3 to 25% cobalt 1 to 15% lead optionally 1 to 15% nickel and 3 to 25% chromium the balance being iron, wherein the relatively soft iron-base matrix contains a hard dispersed phase composed of iron and molybdenum together with Pb particles. Powder mixtures of the constituents are sintered at 1130 to 1180‹C in an atmosphere of decomposed ammonia or under vacuum; if desired, the lead may be incorporated by infiltrating the sintered body formed from the other constituents.
