Abstract

137,872. Baird, R. April 8, 1916. Vacuum cleaning apparatus. - Relates to nozzles for carpet and like vacuum cleaners of the kind in which the vacuum is produced through the rotation of the running wheels and in which the nozzle is loose and rests on the carpet by gravity or by spring pressure. The mouth c of the carpet-cleaning, nozzle merges into a conduit b leading to the suction means, and having its outer end normally closed by a stud f which can be removed to allow a furniture-cleaning nozzle to be connected. When removed, the stud f is screwed into a boss c, the head g on the stud then serving to raise the mouth c of the nozzle clear of the carpet and acting as an antifriction device.
