Abstract

1378072 Specially treated supports for presensitized materials ASAHI KASEI KOGYO KK 18 Feb 1972 [20 Feb 1971] 7539/72 Heading G2C A pre-sensitized material comprises a support with a roughened metallic surface which has been treated with an aqueous solution consisting of hexafluosilicic acid or a hexafluorosilicate with or without an acid and then coated with a photohardenable layer. Specified photo-hardenable layers are the photo-polymerizable compositions of Specification 1376450 optionally containing an acrylate phosphate or methacrylate phosphate, photocross-linkable polymers, vinyl polymers with diazo resins and polymers admixed with bichromates, azides or quinone diazides. The metallic surface is preferably degreased before applying the aqueous solution which may contain an acid or an alkali. The support may be a bi- or tri-metallic support or a polymeric film laminated to a metal layer. The material on imagewise exposure and development produces a printing plate which gives a longer run and is more hydrophilic in the metal areas than supports treated with hexafluorides.
