Abstract

1377866 Valve gear INDUSTRIA NAPOLETANA COSTRUZIONE AUTOVEICOLI ALFA ROMEO ALFASUD SpA 7 Nov 1972 [24 March 1972] 51379/72 Heading F1B [Also in Division F2] In an I. C. engine having slidably mounted cup members 8, Fig. 4 about its valve stems with central adjusting screws 25 engaging the valve stems and a cam-shaft 7, each cam has two parts 18, 18a Fig. 2 which engage the bottom of the cup on diametrically opposite sides of the adjusting screw and has at least one of the two parts of each cam having a portion on its axial side nearer the screw cut away in a dwell region 19. The increased space permits the insertion of a clearance adjusting screw 23. The cup member may be grooved to permit insertion of a tool 24 which prevents the rotation of the cup member during clearance adjustment. The screw 25 is held by a nut 29 acting on a spring disc 27, the edge of the recess 28 being pressed into the crenellations 30. In modifications, a spring disc 32, Fig. 5 engages a resilient ring 33 and a nut 31; a resilient flange 35, Fig. 6 of a member 34 is locked by curling the edge of recess 28'and a resilient nut 36 Fig. 7 has an outer cup-shaped washer and two dished spring nuts which engage the screw 25. Screw 25 may be replaced by a setscrew (14) Fig. 1 (not shown), locked by a nut 16.
