1377395 Coating apparatus IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 4 April 1972 [20 April 1971] 10041/71 Heading B2L Apparatus for wetting a water-activatable adhesive on the surface of a sheet 8 comprises a trough 1 for containing water in which the sheet is immersed and a member 3 which presses the sheet against a foam pad 2 so that excess water is removed from both sides of the sheet as it is withdrawn from the trough. The foam pad 2 may be omitted so that the member presses the sheet against the edge of the trough or both the member and the edge of the trough may be provided, with foam pads. The trough may be of coated cardboard or plastics material and the member 3 may be of metal rod or wire or plastics material. The trough is used for wetting adhesive on a roll of wall paper which is immersed in the trough.
