1377264 Apparatus for loading articles into bags EMI ELECTROLA GmbH 9 June 1972 [25 June 1971] 26966/72 Heading B8C A machine for loading articles into bags at a loading station includes means for holding a bag in a substantially horizontal position, means for opening the mouth of the bag, means for partially inserting an article into the opened mouth of the bag and means for rotating the bag to a substantially vertical position with the mouth uppermost so that insertion of the article into the bag is completed by gravity. As shown, a record sleeve held in a horizontal position by suction heads 5, 6, 7 is opened by suction heads 13 carried by a support 11 and a gramophone record 10 is transferred by a suction head 9, on transfer means (not shown) to a position in which it is partially inserted on the sleeve. The head 9 is released and therafter gripped by a suction head 16, also carried by the support 11, and the heads 5, 6, 7 are then released and retracted by an arm 4, and the head 9 moved to pick up another record. The support 11 with the heads 13 and 16 are then rotated anticlockwise to a vertical position by a device 15, the record is released by the head 16 and drops into the sleeve 8, heads 13 are retracted and released and the sleeve falls into a box 19 on an inclined conveyer 18. The box 19 is retained by discs 22, 23 having oppositely located cutaway segments, which when the box is full, are rotated by a device so to allow the box to slide down the conveyer and an empty box to take its place. The head 9 may be arranged to pick up records from an edgetrimming station of a record press.
