Abstract

1280529 Bagging machines AC FORMO 28 July 1969 [1 Aug 1968] 37732/69 Heading B8C In a bagging machine comprising a bag pack 14 supported adjacent a loading station 8 by a plate 10, a refill bag pack 14<SP>1</SP>, supported by a plate 10<SP>1</SP>, can be positioned beneath the pack 14 so that, on withdrawal of the plate 10, both packs 14, 14<SP>1</SP> are supported by the plate 10<SP>1</SP>. The plates 10, 10<SP>1</SP> are removably engageable with screw shafts 11-13 such that intermittent rotation of the shafts raises the packs 14, 14<SP>1</SP> to the loading station 8. At the loading station 8 the top bag of pack 14 is partially opened by a jet of air from a nozzle 29, upper and lower jaws 22, 24 carried by a reciprocating carriage 27 then being inserted into the bag and being opened to distend the bag such that an article may be pushed through the jaws 22, 24 and into the bag by a chain driven pusher 2, the bagged article then being pushed on to a discharge platform 9. The lip of the bottom bag in pack 14 is supported by a hinged leaf 15 urged thereagainst by a spring 18. The refill pack 14<SP>1</SP> is carried by spindles 31, which are aligned with tubular spindles 21 carried by the machine, and the pack 14<SP>1</SP> is moved on to these spindles 21 to be supported by the plate 10<SP>1</SP>, the plate 10<SP>1</SP> then being engaged with the shafts 11-13. In a modification (Figs. 15-20, not shown) the plate 10<SP>1</SP> is supported on a rest plate (78) which carries spindles (84) to align the backs in refill pack 14<SP>1</SP>. When the refill pack 14<SP>1</SP> is to be placed in position the plate (78) is lifted, the plate 10<SP>1</SP> is engaged with the shafts 11-13, and the plate (78) allowed to drop to its rest position.
