Abstract

1377020 Conveying flat sheets in furnaces GRANGES ENG AB 24 Nov 1972 [30 Nov 1971] 54337/72 Heading F4B In a heat treatment furnace, a sheet metal workpiece is supported on an inclined support surface, part of the weight of the workpiece being carried by a second support surface engaging its lower edge. A metal sheet 19 is supported on inclined rollers 16 engaging a flat surface, and rollers 21 engaging the bottom edge. The furnace has burners 24, and a support member which travels with the sheet 19 may be interposed between it and the rollers 21 to prevent deformation of the lower edge. The roller way conveyers may be replaced by walking beam or endless belt conveyers and two sets of conveyer rollers mounted at right angles to each other on a tilting frame are used to feed the metal sheets to and from the furnace conveyer from and to horizontal charge and discharge rollerways. The supports for the lower edge of the sheet may be flanges on the main support rollers.
