Abstract

1527782 Tempering glass sheets TAMGLASS OY 29 June 1976 [30 June 1975] 27002/76 Heading C1M Glass sheets 1 are heated substantially to their softening point for tempering in a furnace 3, means being provided for reciprocating the sheets while heating, and are then discharged from the furnace to cool and temper them. The sheets 1 are preferably carried from feeding station 2 to furnace 3 on a roller conveyer whose motion is periodically reversed to give the reciprocation, the sheets then being carried to cooling station 4 and discharge station 5. The sheets may be reciprocated over a distance of 0À1-2 metres, enabling the heating zone to be shorter than in conventional devices.
