Abstract
1376949 Rotary filling machines SEITZWERKE GmbH 4 Jan 1972 [5 Jan 1971] 261/72 Heading B8T [Also in Division H2] A container handling machine has a rotatable table 12 on upper rotary machine portion 15 which is raised or lowered by telescopic supports 18a, 18b having screw jacks driven by a motor 26, and another stationary machine part 40 cooperating with the portion 15 and mounted on telescopic supports 30a, 30b having further screw jacks driven by a motor 37. ,One of the motors raises or lowers the associated machine part faster than the machine part associated with the other motor and the two motors are controlled by proximity switches such that, during continuous upward and downward height adjustment of the slower machine part, said one motor is switched on and off respectively at a given height difference between the two machine parts and is switched off and on respectively when substantially no height difference exists whereby the faster machine part follows the slower machine part. As described the motor 37 moves the machine part 40 slower than the motor 26 moves the upper machine portion 15, although the converse could be the case. The table 12 has container lifting elements 11 registering with container filling elements 14 on the upper portion 15 which are operated by means 41 on the part 40. The screw jacks of the supports 18a, 18b are driven by the motor 26 via reduction gears 22 interconnected by shafts 24 and have a common brake 27. The screw jacks of the supports 30a, 30b are driven by the motor 37 via reduction gears 34 and flexible shafts 36 and have a common brake 38. Proximity switches b3, b4, b5 are mounted on the holder 40 via a bar 43 and are actuated by a stepped plate 48 presenting a narrow surface 48a to b5 and a relatively wider surface 48b to b3, b4. The proximity switches b3, b4, b5 are arranged in a control circuit (see also Division H2) such that during height adjustment, when the part 40 moves upwards continually, b5 moves beyond the surface 48a of the plate 48 and thereby opens a contact and causes the motor 26 to be connected to supply. As the portion 15 moves faster than the part 40, the surface 48a again comes into the region of the switch b5 causing it to close and thereby cut off the motor 26. Likewise when the part 40 moves downwardly, the portion 15 also moves downwardly but faster, and again the narrow surface 48a moves beyond the switch b5 causing it to open whereby the motor 26 is cut off until the part 40 catches up. These cycles are repeated until the machine parts have attained the desired height to accommodate different sized containers.
