Abstract

In a galvanizing process articles at 12 are transferred to a carrier 66 which is suspended by cable 84 from arm 88, which arm is mounted on a rotary spider conveyer consisting of two independent arms 50 and 52 driven respectively by pins 54, 55 secured to driving table 40 around fixed post 30. Arm 88 is secured to rod 90 so that its position is controlled by engagement of crank 102 with fixed cam 114 so that as the carrier moves clockwise it is raised and lowered to enter the galvanizing tank 14 and then raised and lowered to leave the tank. When the carrier reaches the centrifuge 16 the operator shown is able to speed the process by pulling towards him the arm 52 relative to arm 50 and the carrier is then lowered into the centrifuge and lifted out of it to be delivered at the discharge point 18. Mechanical aid for operator when centrifuging, (Fig. 3).-When the arm 52 carrying carrier 66 reaches the centrifuging station the crank 112 engages a cam 148 which is secured to and operated by fluid cylinder 140 so that by the raising of cam 148 the operator controls the lowering under gravity of the carrier into the centrifuge and by the lowering of cam 148 lifts it out, the operation of cylinder 140 being footcontrolled. Alternatively the lifting of the carriers 60 up and down may be affected by fluid cylinders positioned on the arms 50 and 52 which constitute the rotary conveyer.
