Abstract

1376898 Feeding sheets RICOH KK 17 Dec 1971 [28 Dec 1970] 58836/71 Heading B8R [Also in Division B6] A printing machine incorporates a sheetfeeding apparatus comprising a pile tray 21, which can be raised and lowered by a pinion 16 and rack 17a, and a sheet-feeding roller 28 which contacts the top sheet of a pile on the tray and by its position causes the position of the tray to be intermittently adjusted. The roller 28 is carried by an arm 29 secured to a shaft 31, and means actuated by a movable three-position lever and by the vertical position at the roller 28 control the position of the tray. Usually the tray moves upward whenever the number of sheets in the pile reaches a minimum, but when it is desired to replace the pile the lever is moved manually, and a cam causes the shaft 31 to be rotated and the roller 28 to be raised to 28a. At the same time the tray 21 is lowered to permit insertion of a new pile. Then further movement of the lever causes the tray to rise and the roller 28 to sink until the pile and roller are in contact.
