Abstract
1376825 Soldering COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE 8 Feb 1972 [16 Feb 1971] 5801/72 Heading B3R In a method of soldering a metallic filter element to a non-porous metallic element a nickel-phosphorus compound of near-eutectic composition is placed at the joint region, and heating applied to raise the temperature to a point between the melting point of the compound and the melting point of the, or the more fusible of the metallic elements. Heating may be applied by means of an electrode wheel or by local high frequency heating. Reference is made to soldering tubular filters of iron, steel, nickel or alloys thereof to tubes of similar materials and examples are given in which nickel filters are soldered to nickel tubes. The filter may be crimped on to the tube before the soldering process. The phosphorus content of the nickel-phosphorus compounds is between 5 and 15%, preferably 12%.
