Abstract
1375428 Refrigerating; defrosting SAKURA REFRIGERATING & HEATING ENG CO Ltd 14 Sept 1972 [21 March 1972] 42645/72 Heading F4H The evaporator 12 of a compression refrigeration system for a refrigerating device is defrosted by a spray of anti-freeze solution passing from a reservoir 20 through a pipe 22 to a precooler 27 within a refrigeration compartment 10 to a nozzle 23 for passage over the evaporator, and the melted frost and solution is collected for passage through a line 25 including a heat exchanger 26 and the reservoir and a further line 32 including a pump 31 to a concentrator 30 for evaporative concentration by spraying over a coil 14 through which heated refrigerant is passed from the compressor (not shown) of the refrigeration system. The concentrated antifreeze is returned to the reservoir through a line 35. Flow of anti-freeze to the concentrator is regulated in accordance with the liquid level in the reservoir as sensed by a float type measuring device 38 connected to the pump 31. The defrosting action may be continuous or a timer may control defrosting at predetermined or intermittent time intervals. The refrigeration system comprises the compressor, heat radiating coil 14, condenser 17, a pipe 18 and an expansion valve (not shown) in a pipe 19 leading to the evaporator 12.
