1374516 Gas densitometer MITSUBISHI DENKI K K 20 March 1972 [18 March 1971] 12988/72 Heading G1A In a gas densitometer for analysis of mixtures of flue gases, the mixture is put into a container 10 through which (infrared) light from a source 20 whose wave length is determined by a spectrometer 24 (or interference filter) with a control device 44 passes and the light which has passed through the mixture and not been absorbed is received by an optical detector 36 whose electrical signal is fed along with a signal from a further optical detector 34, receiving a reference beam of radiation, to a divider circuit 38 which provides an output signal proportional to their quotient which is fed via a logarithmic operational circuit to one of a plurality of memories 42a, 42b, 42c .... The control device 44 determines which memory stores the "quotient signal" for a particular wavelength and after a number of separate measurements have been made (one for each wavelength, each quotient being directed to a different memory), an analogue computer 48 is able to utilize the quotients to calculate the various densities of the various gases present by solving a set of simultaneous equations (disclosed in the description) and the results of the computation may be displayed and/or recorded on a device 50,
