Abstract

1374447 Automatic control systems ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 12 Nov 1971 [16 Nov 1970] 52559/71 Heading G3R [Also in Division H2] A speed regulating circuit for a linear motor 11 having primary windings 12, 13, 14 and a secondary section formed by a rail 16 comprises thyristor switching stages 24, 25, 26 controlling the voltage applied from A.C. mains 17, 18, 19 to the windings 12, 13, 14, an eddy current brake 15 supplied from a phase of the mains through a thyristor switching stage 27, pulse control stages 30, 31 controlling the stages 24--27 and control stages 32, 33 which control the stages 30, 31 and are controlled by difference signals from comparison stages 35, 36 which respectively receive a reference signal from potentiometer 38 and a signal from tachogenerator 29 representing the speed of the motor, and a reference signal from potentiometer 37 and a signal from circuit members 28, 34 representative of the braking current. Members 37, 38 may be adjusted to produce two sets of characteristics relating motor'driving force and speed, each set being respectively obtained by variation of the voltage applied to the windings 12, 13, 14 and the current supplied to the brake 15, Fig.3 (not shown). Various ranges of operating speed corresponding to the selected characteristics may be obtained and a modification suitable for very low crawl speeds is described, Fig.2 (not shown) in which the stage 36 is supplied directly from the potentiometer 38 and from the tachogenerator 29 (members 28, 34 being omitted) and the stage 35 is supplied from a potentiometer (44) equivalent to potentiometer 37 and from a circuit (41, 42) sensing the voltage applied to the winding 12. Optimum control may be obtained by designing the stages 32, 33 as PID controllers, the circuit arrangement and operation of such a controller being described, Fig.4 (not shown). The members 37, 38 may be replaced by a single reference source common to both stages 32, 33 which are then designed so that the proportional share of the control characteristic is adjustable. Current transformer 28 may be replaced by a current-sensing resistor and main switches 20, 21, 22 provide for phase interchange to reverse the motor.
