Abstract

1374444 Fluid-pressure servomotive systems ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 5 Nov 1971 [7 Nov 1970] 51461/71 Heading G3P [Also in Division F1] The pressure acting on the end-face 9 of a spool 6, controlling the delivery of fuel through metering slots 21 to a plurality of fuel injectors and acting on the pivoted lever 4 of an air-flow measuring element 2 in an I.C. engine intake manifold I to provide a restoring force for the element, is controlled by a pressure regulator 33. The regulator has a diaphragm 37 co-operating with a valve seat 36 to define a valve controlling fuel-flow from a pump 10 back to a tank 12. The diaphragm 37 is connected by a pin 38 to a diaphragm 39 biased by a spring 40 and subjected on opposite sides to the air-pressures upstream and downstream of the element 2. The diaphragm 37 is subjected to the upstream air-pressure and the fuel pressures upstream and downstream of the seat 36 over differential areas. The force exerted by the spring 40 may be controlled by a member 50 which increases the spring force with increasing engine temperature, a three-dimensional cam (53), Fig.2 (not shown) positioned in accordance with throttle valve position and the vacuum downstream of the throttle valve 3, a cam plate (63), Fig.3 (not shown), moved axially in accordance with the vacuum or a cam (66), Fig.4 (not shown), rotated with the throttle valve. To maintain the pressure across the slots 21 substantially constant a diaphragm 20, subjected in chambers 18, 19 to the pressures upstream and downstream of the slots, provides the movable part of valves controlling fuel-flow to the ducts 23. The air-flow measuring element may be a piston displaceable transversely to the direction of air-flow. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1231967 and 1250345.
